Ranjith Early Life And Education

Ranjith made his acting debut in 1993 with Pon Vilangu, directed by R. K. Selvamani and K. S. Rajkumar, where he starred alongside notable actors such as Rahman and Ramya Krishnan. His performance received praise from critics, including K. Vijayan of the New Straits Times, for his compelling portrayal despite being a newcomer.

Ranjith Career

Between 1999 and 2001, Ranjith took on various roles, primarily in supporting or antagonist roles, though he occasionally starred as the lead in films like Nesam Pudhusu (1999) and Kann Thirandhu Paaramma (2000).

In 2003, he made a bold move by directing, producing, and acting in Bheeshmar, though the film’s lack of commercial success forced him to shift to supporting roles in Malayalam cinema. Despite setbacks, he continued his career, appearing in political comedies like Padhavi Paduthum Paadu and Aadhikkam (2005).

Ranjith later found significant success on Tamil television, portraying Duraisingam in the Star Vijay series Senthoora Poove (2020–2022) and later Pazhaniswami in Baakiyalakshmi (2023), both roles gaining positive reception and elevating his television career.

Ranjith has also been active in politics, initially with the AIADMK party under the late J. Jayalalithaa. He later shifted allegiance to the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) in 2018 but left in 2019 over disagreements.

He then joined the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) under T. T. V. Dhinakaran. In August 2024, Ranjith sparked controversy over a statement about caste-based honor killings, leading him to retract his comments following public backlash.

Ranjith’s career reflects his persistence in both the entertainment and political arenas, where he continues to be a complex and influential figure.
